Poor Squirrel

Tonight I overheard Maddy telling Daddy something.

"Daddy, today a squirrel ran out in front of a car. The squirrel got squished by the car and went to sleep. He has a biggggg boo boo."

Matt said " when did this happen?" and she said "today when I went for a walk with Key, I'll show you when we go for a walk."

Matt said he didn't think the squirrel was sleeping but she insisted.

Hold On

It's so cute seeing Maddy and Camryn play together.  Camryn is tough.  She'll let Maddy run her over, knock her over, etc. and doesn't mind because she's just happy her big sis is playing with her.  Look at Maddy dragging Camryn behind the Pooh car.

Oh and can I talk about the fact that Camryn will be 1 in just 1 week!!!  It's bittersweet.  I love watching her grow but gosh if I could stop time I would.  I'm not ready for my baby to be 1.

Birthdays, snowmen, and cows

Saturday we had dinner at Mimi's to celebrate her and Rodney's birthdays. Maddy and Ryan had fun teaching baby dolls how to play piano, Camryn got to open an early present from Mimi, and we had cupcakes!

We also came home with a quarter of a cow!

Last night Maddy made a snowman with her little melting snowman kit and asked me to take multiple pictures of her with her snowman.

Today was a tough day. A dear friend of ours, longtime friend of Matt's, recently lost his 20 year old brother. The funeral was today. Matt and I both are exhausted. While the service was beautiful and the out pouring of love from the community was amazing it was so incredibly sad to see people you care about in so much pain. The thought of ever losing a sibling or child is unbearable. Today sure made us grateful for all we have and helps you to remember never to take anything or anyone for granted.

We spent this afternoon outside with the girls. Enjoying our sweet children and each other. Looks like Camryn has already inherited our love of coffee, she carried around the empty McDonald's cup for a good bit.

I think we are all tired tonight. We were playing when I turn around and Camryn is just laying on the floor. It was pretty cute!

Our picture wall

Ever since we put the built in cabinets in the family room we have known it needed something else.

Our inspiration was the pottery barn picture below, but we were having trouble finding the picture ledges and frames we wanted...until today!

We purchased the frames (all on sale then we had a coupon...score). Then thanks to something I learned from reading Young House Love we cut paper the size of the frames we had. We then started taping the paper on the wall until we came up with a design we liked. Then we hung the frames . The only things missing are our pictures. We love the result so much though I had to post even though we haven't put our own personal pictures in yet.

Shopping

We took what we planned on being a quick trip to Kohls this morning. About 2 hours later we were heading home. The girls started to melt down at the end but overall they were good. In the dressing room I looked at Camryn and she was mimicking us. She was taking her shirt off. Meanwhile Maddy was randomly finding things she "Loved" and throwing then in the cart. There was a Hello Kitty watch, some neon bracelets, and a pair of sunglasses. She was also pointing out everything she thought I needed (all glittery and xs's but it was cute). She was also begging me to take her up to the kids section so she could buy clothes.

Besides the fact that almost everything was on clearance we also succeeded in finding frames for the picture wall we have been wanting to do in the family room! I'll post on that soon.

Science Experiment

So I have to confess that Maddy and the TV/iPad have gotten to know each other pretty well this winter. In an effort to find something fun to do on our weeknights (which always seem so busy even though we don't have to worry about sports or extra curriculars yet) I suggested a baking soda and vinegar experiment.

I filled a Pyrex with baking soda, put a few drops of food coloring in some bowls of vinegar and let Maddy go to town. I couldn't snap a picture quick enough and it soon turned in to a fun goopey mess. Maddy had a great time though and happily played while we made dinner (Camryn wasn't very amused locked in her booster seat though while Maddy had all the fun). And Matt tried to ignore the giant mess she was making without twitching (my sweet OCD husband). Cash also thought it was cool and decided to lick up the mess as Maddy made it, which only resulted in his entire dinner ending up all over my dining room. So there you have it, our fun little experiment and the only two pictures I managed to snap during the entire process. I think maybe we will watch some cartoons tomorrow ;)

Disney On Ice

We had a wonderful long weekend this past weekend.  Friday was our AWS and Monday was Presidents day.  Friday I took the girls in to work to visit our co-workers and they had a great time.  Everyone loved seeing them.  Then we played outside.

Snow White on the Gator

Friday night Matt and I went out with Lisa and Shane.  We had a great time, of course!

Saturday morning Mimi came down and we went to Disney on Ice.  Whitney came over and watched Camryn for us.  I couldn't see Camryn sitting still in my lap for 2 hours so we thought some 1 on 1 time with her Aunt Whitney would be best!  And of course Whitney and Camryn had a good time.  I have the best friends!!

Maddy LOVED Disney on Ice.  Below is a picture of her grinning ear to ear before we left for the show.

We got some snacks and got settled in.  Maddy even got a really cool Tinkerbell Snow Cone (Thanks Mimi!!)

Maddy was in awe of everything.  She loved the show, so much so that she couldn't even sit still, she stood most of the time, leaning over the seats to get even closer.  She was pointing out all the princesses and characters she knows.  I would highly recommend Disney on Ice to anyone.  We will definitely be going again.

And just because they're so adorable, some pictures of the girls last night before bed.  Camryn is walking more and more each day.  Her favorite thing to do is run around the coffee tables. She literally holds on with one had and runs around it, no fear, just runs.

Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day! We had a pretty good day over here. The day started with gifts. In true form Matt got me something even though we agreed our trip last Saturday was our present. I got a beautiful necklace with the girls names on it. Love love love it! Maddy got a new Max and Ruby DVD, wax bottle candies, and little wooden airplane thingy (technical terms right?!). Camryn got a new hat and head band for her first Valentines.

After work the girls and I went for a walk and then we had a nice dinner followed by chocolate covered strawberries!
Callie wasn't amused with the day. Matt thinks its because Cash forgot to get her something.

And to top it all off I got to go to bed next to two handsome boys (not nearly as hot as it sounds haha)

When Vegetables Come to Life

The other day I steamed some edamame for a snack, for myself.  Maddy saw me eating them and ended up eating most of them.  I was in shock, she hasn't willing ate a vegetable in some time.  Last night I decided to try again.  She was cracking me up.  She kept calling the edamame "he" and talking about how she'd wake him up if she ate him.  I tried to capture it on video.

A night out and other happenings

I'll try to catch up since its been a few days.

The other night Camryn was feeling very photogenic. Whenever she saw the camera start to flash she gave a big grin. She was having so much fun pushing the baby doll stroller around.

Then I took Maddy to the library one night. She insisted on carrying her five books and had to stop to hug the big giraffe.  We always have such a good time at the library.  We even got a book called "When Dad's Don't Grow Up"...it seemed so suiting, all about fun daddy's who act like big kids.  We were excited to get home and read it with daddy.

Saturday morning I went to boot camp and had the hardest workout of my life, followed by a brutal but short lived migraine.  Matt and I headed to Fredericksburg for the night right after my class. We stayed right downtown in the historic district and loved our hotel.  They even let me check in really early so I could take a nap and luckily kick the headache!  We had a wonderful time eating and drinking our way across the town.  We stopped at Capital Ale House and from the picture below you can see it's appeal, they have every kind of beer you could imagine, beer after beer after beer.
Then we went to Bavarian Chef for dinner.  Holy humongous serving sizes!  The food was good and Matt had a great time pretending he knew German for an hour or so after dinner, schnitzel this, schnitzel that.  We decided he would most definitely be fired if he ever worked there for butchering all the German words.
Quiet morning in downtown Fredericksburg

Mom watched the girls. They did crafts, had a visit from Aunt Anna, and most importantly Camryn slept! So the act is up, I know she is capable of sleeping, now if she would just do it for me!

It's now Monday morning as I edit this post and I know I shouldn't count my eggs before they're hatched, or whatever other appropriate saying you want to plug in here, but Camryn did great last night!!  She went to bed at 7pm and woke at 3am to eat.  She probably would have gone back to sleep without eating, but I was anxious to get back to sleep so I fed her and we both went back to bed shortly there after.  I feel good about this...I think maybe it's time for us all to get some more sleep :)

And just because it was so cute, Camryn digging in to some Tostitos, her entire arm is in the bag!
