Vacation Bible School and Summer Fun

Ok...I'm back to taking forever to write a post!!!  As usual we're beat...too busy keeping up with day to day life and trying to enjoy the summer at the same time.

Last week Maddy and Camryn weren't in school because Maddy had vacation bible school (VBS) every morning.  Mimi had the girls Monday and Wednesday, I watched them Tuesday and Thursday, and Gammy had them Friday.  It was a busy fun-filled week!

Maddy was supposed to wear her VBS tee-shirt all week.  Lucky for her it was huge and she couldn't wear it, because you know Maddy doesn't do tee-shirts, dresses and tu-tu's all the way.

During my days off with the girls we went to the playground.  Both girls loved going down the pole, Camryn of course, with no fear, just scares me.  She'll stand on the edge and say "watch this mommy, watch this" and just leap for the pole.  When I try to help she says "go way mommy, go way".  She is talking so much more and is just so cute when she does!

Maddy pouting on my leg.  I told her I'd take a picture of her pouting while her sister was having fun...she didn't seem to mind.

Camryn had to stop and pick flowers for her sister.

The girls have been finding quite a few caterpillars.  It's so funny they want to play with them but they're kind of scared and it's cracks me up.  Then they ask me to catch it...

Still playing with the poor caterpillar.

One night last week we met Whitney at Whole Foods for dinner.  The girls were happy to see her!

One day after VBS the girls and I and some other friends all went to Burke Lake.  We had ice cream.

BFF's both got mint chocolate chip.  Camryn got strawberry, but didn't like it...I know...didn't like ice cream!

We fed the ducks.

And geese.

We rode the train.  (Camryn loves Sydney who is Maddy's best friend so it's so funny, both my girls can't get enough of her and Camryn always says "where nee neee")

Waiting for the train.

One morning while Maddy was at VBS Camryn and I went to the sprinkler/fountains at the new Mosaic District.  It was so nice and so much fun. We went with Camryn's little friend and her mom and had a great time.  We also go to see Key since this is where she is now working, nannying for a little 4 month old boy!

Sprinkler park and all they wanted to do was play with the water spout by the trash can haha.

All that running around and fun made for so pooped little girls.

Hopscotch and Fireflies

Last week was a busy one.  Matt and I had a dinner for the parents of the board at the preschool on Tuesday night and it was a lot of fun.  Friday Matt was off with the girls so he did a few things up at the preschool and took Maddy to swim lessons.

Look at the girls, happy as can be (with a little froggy on the window behind them).

We had a rough week of sleeping for Camryn but she seems to be getting back on track now.  The other night she fell asleep with her head on my stomach and her feet on my arms...the way she falls asleep is so funny sometimes.

The girls "washed" my car with water guns.

They both love sidewalk chalk but Camryn especially loves it.  The second we open the garage she squeals with joy and runs into it to get her chalk.

The girls love to play hopscotch so I drew the squares for them and they both showed off their hopscotch skills.  They were so cute doing their hopscotch I couldn't resist doing a few videos.  Here and Here.

Friday night I went to a moms happy hour at a neighbors house with a few of the other moms from the preschool.  It was a great time.

Saturday morning I was up at the church decorating for Vacation Bible School this week.  The girls aren't in school this week because Maddy has vacation bible school each morning.

Then Saturday we had Aunt Lisa and Shane, and our neighbors over for a cook out.  We had such a wonderful time!

Camryn waiting patiently for everyone to arrive.

Miss Sydney smiling for me :)

Once it started to get a little dark we were all running around trying to catch fireflies.  Brings back tons of childhood memories for me when my cousins and I would be at Gigi's house and we'd build a fort with sheets over the clothes line, then fill that fort with so many fireflies it would just glow in there...

Needless to say everyone had a great time and by 10pm my two were passed out on the couch.  Not only was Maddy hanging off the couch with her little undies hanging out but she was snoring like a champ.  These pictures will embarrass her someday, but it was just too cute.

Sunday morning Camryn let me braid her hair for the first time.  Of course it lasted maybe an hour before she pulled them out.

Mimi came down on Sunday because she was watching the girls Monday for us and that gave me some time to do a few things.  I was able to finally try a recipe I'd been wanting to make where you use Yuca to make a Paleo friendly dough.  It turned out amazing and was so easy!!

These look like peirogies to me but they were actually like a Reuben Empanada of sorts.  Super yummy if I do say so myself!

And last but not least...a Camryn sandwich!

It's Hot in Here!!

Wow, it's been a scorcher in the Coulby household this past week!  The AC upstairs started acting up last Wednesday and that was that.  Thursday we had someone come out and tell us we needed a new outdoor unit and new coils inside and that they could do it on Monday.  That means we went without AC upstairs (we have AC downstairs) Wednesday - Sunday nights.  NOT FUN!!!  The normal temp upstairs by the end of the day was a toasty 86-87 degrees.

We tried a camp out in the basement Thursday night and while the girls were absolutely precious together, they woke every few hours to giggle and/or fight.  Our girls don't sleep well anywhere but their own beds.  Which is fine for short spurts...like when we went to WV the previous weekend...But after going to WV, starting summer camp, then the AC going out, the girls hadn't had a good nights rest in over a week.

We had a few offers from our amazing friends and family to let us stay with them...but since we had AC other places in our house we didn't need to take anyone up on the offer, plus that didn't solve our lack of sleep problem!  Thankfully we were able to borrow a rolling AC unit from some friends and put it at the girls end of the hall so they were able to get a little bit of sleep.

We tried getting the cold air from the main level upstairs...that didn't really do much.

So we made the best of it.  The girls and Matt did a little cleaning one morning.

Matt made sure to point out the milk or food that he found on the walls and molding and the girls happily helped him clean...I think he's hoping they get his OCD cleaning habits...I must say I'd love that!!  :)

We went swimming

We played with rice and beans in the front yard.

We had friends over and went to the playground.

And looked at the animals at the girls school.

Dad and Tammy came over to spend some time with us Sunday and then Monday morning the HVAC guys showed up to replace the old unit!!!

See that old turd.

And our shiny new unit (let me pretend like I love looking at this and it was worth every penny).  Don't get me wrong, it's probably worth every penny given how hot and miserable the last few nights were, but I could think of a lot of other things I would have liked to have done with our money.

The dogs were happy once installation was done, they were tired of being tied to the table haha.

Oh and I noticed last week..Camryn looks a bit like me:
