Last weekend we headed up to Frederick to participate in the MS walk to support Aunt Sabrina. Prior to leaving we had to lay a tarp out in driveway since we were having all our garden soil delivered. The girls pretended it was an ocean or something and were having a fun time running around on the tarp.
Maddy wanted to ride in the stroller so Uncle Rodney pushed her for a bit while Cams rode on daddy's shoulders.
Maddy started walking and Camryn finally agreed to ride in the stroller but only if "Uncle Kiss" (how she pronounces it and it's so darn cute!) pushed her. Here Chris was teasing her.
After the walk they had lots of yummy treats. Camryn opted for about 3 banana's and Maddy got some ice cream.
Afterwards we went to this little cafe at the airport in Frederick. You can see the planes land and take off as you eat.
The girls love having popcorn and tv in our room at night. The other night I found Maddy filling her jewelry box with popcorn. She said it was for later that night in her room if she got hungry.
I rarely get a smile from Cams when I ask her to smile these days.
The day after the walk we worked like crazy to finish the garden. Daddy brought all the dirt down, one wheel barrow at a time!

The girls did a pretty good job of entertaining themselves while we worked on the garden. They changed their clothes about 10 times, they had a picnic the guest room, they found the cedar chest of keepsakes and Matt and I found his confirmation candle in the back yard, but overall they were really great!

After the strawberry plant we continued to plant seeds. Camryn was very meticulous with the teeny tiny seeds that had to be placed one every inch and so on. Maddy got bored of the little seeds quickly.

I was off with the girls Monday and we spent some time watering the garden. The girls love to water.
We went to Depot and bought some more actual plants (frost tolerant ones like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and spinach) to plant so we had some actual green plants besides our lone strawberry plant.
Later that night we brushed our teeth...doesn't everyone do that without undies?!
Yesterday morning Maddy informed me that it was Molly's birthday so Molly had a little banana muffin for her birthday breakfast.
Tuesday night Matt was in the garage working on some cubbies for one of the teachers at the preschool and the girls were out there playing around. Camryn had come in and taken off her shoes, but then gone back out to help clean up and dropped a 2x4 on her foot. It was not pretty! Wednesday afternoon I took her to the doctor and they had to cauterize her nail to put a hole in it so the blood under her big toe could drain. Relieving that pressure immediately made her feel so much better and she got home and told Maddy she was all better now! She was so brave too, while she screamed the entire way to the doctors she didn't even whimper when they actually cauterized it. She really is so brave!
We took Maddy to kindergarten orientation yesterday. Did you know she'll be the graduating class of 2028 (from high school)?!? Wow.
When we arrived at the school and the principal announced that kids would be going one way and parents the other. Maddy heard that and immediately broke down. I swore to her that we would be in the school, just in another room. She had 2 of her best friends with her and so she reluctantly went, but only after confirming that I WAS NOT going to leave her there. I'm not sure why she doesn't trust us and/or is afraid we will abandon her somewhere but it breaks my heart. I wish she would believe me when I tell her she'll be ok. The principal at the school was actually my computer teacher when I went there so we talked to him and he tried to engage Maddy a little. I know she'll love it there, I just hope the transition isn't too anxiety ridden for her.
The teachers did report back to all the parents that no children were currently crying, they were all having fun, I'm pretty sure that announcement was directly for me and Matt.
They also stressed how important it was to read to your kids. How their future success depends on it. Nothing like a speech about reading to get you reading :) The girls went out with Gammy last night and we worked on cleaning the deck and porch for the season. When the girls got home they curled up with daddy for a book.
