Valentine's and Camryn's first Hair Cut

I love Target.  I make excuses to go to Target on my lunch break and I just love that place.  Sometimes my frequent trips pay off...like when I find tents in the middle of winter marked 70% off!  So I bought a tent and we set it up in our family room...and are now really excited to go camping...come on summer!!!

Sometimes things get in the way of my lunch time Target trips, like my recent travel for work :)  I don't get to travel often but I was sent to a training in Shepherdstown, WV and the campus where I stayed was really pretty.  They have the lodges, dining hall, and class rooms all on a campus and you walk everywhere and it was very nice.  I hadn't been away from the girls that long before, but we all survived, GO MATT!!!!  A week alone with the girls and all was good!!

As much as we yell at ask the girls to help us with chores you'd think we'd get some results...not so much, but they do like to fold laundry, which is nice!

Most of our arguments are about clothing.  The other day I told Maddy we weren't leaving the house until she took off her queen dress, so instead she put a robe over it...like that made a difference?!

Maddy had a princess tea party birthday she went to a few weeks ago.  Elsa even made an appearance.

While Maddy and I were at the Princess Tea Party birthday Matt took Camryn over to Mrs. Beatties.  Cams LOVES Mrs. Beattie!!

We went to Red Robin one night for dinner and the girls loved the new chalk board wall they have.

Cams likes to play with the dogs.  She puts headbands and bracelets on them....she rips tissue up in to really little pieces to make casts for their legs (and a huge mess for mommy and daddy)...and they are so patient with her!

While I was out of town for work Matt took the girls to test out bikes for Cams and they ended up in hot pink big wheels.

These days when we tell the girls it's time to go to bed they immediately pretend to be asleep.

Camryn decided it'd be a good idea to wear my workout headband while feeding the dogs the other day.

The girls went to TJ Maxx with me the other day...Cams looks like she belongs with her feathery tiara and shopping basket.

My little fairy getting ready for bed.

Maddy was invited to bring your friend to gymnastics day by Riley the other day.  It took Maddy about 30 minutes to finally get up the courage to join the class but she had fun and the next morning was doing wall hand stands.

Matt had a meeting at the preschool and I knew Cams would have a fit if she couldn't participate in gymnastics as well so she got to spend some time with Aunt Anna and Gammy while Maddy was at gymnastics.

I was able to sneak out for a quick happy hour with Whitney the other day.  Anna and her friends happened to be there as well so it was a good time!

Camryn likes to make pre-bed funny faces...I'm sure it's all a ploy to delay bedtime even more...

We went to a Valentine's day party at our neighbors and Maddy let me do a pretty bun in her hair.  She looks so grown up!

Maddy hadn't been feeling well the day before the party and although the dr. said it was just a cold/cough she definitely wasn't herself for the party.  She stayed by my side the whole night and finally fell asleep on their couch.  It probably didn't help that she woke up at 4am that day so she was running on fumes.

For Valentine's day the girls painted daddy canvases and they painted me a bird house and made me a tee shirt (that they wanted me to wear to the Valentine's day party).

Mimi came to stay the other night and watched the girls on a Monday so Matt could get some extra work done.  Maddy had fun cuddling on the couch with Mimi that night!

We finally admitted the girls needed hair cuts.  Maddy had 1 before from Aunt Lisa and 1 unsuccessful trip to the salon (where she chickened out).  So we made an appointment with Aunt Lisa and Camryn got her first hair cut.

Snow days

We had a few snow days lately and we've been trying to find good ways to entertain ourselves.

The girls had fun making tee shirts with puffy paint the other day.  Camryn is obsessed with "pokey dots" so she made a polka dot shirt and Maddy made a princess shirt, complete with a puffy paint necklace.

We had Sydney over for a play date.  They thought it was funny to NOT smile for a picture...little actresses.

We also played in the snow.  It's been brutally cold as well so one day Cams thought it was too cold to play and the next day Maddy thought it was too cold.

Maddy helped daddy shovel.

Not sure who they planned on hiding from but Cams and Matt made a little fort.

Future snow boarder.

Matt made a tunnel for them..

Camryn gets tubes

Camryn had her pre-op appointment with her pediatrician just 2 days after getting over her stomach bug but they said she was doing well and was cleared for surgery, Thursday, January 29th.

We had Camryn's stomach bug, Maddy's high fever and ear infection, followed by Camryn's tubes...it made for a busy week!

The morning of Camryn's procedure she couldn't have breakfast so despite being a little mad at us for that and hungry she was in good spirits!  She hugged the dogs good-bye like she always does and posed for a picture for me, with her ziploc baggie of "diamonds" (little craft gems) and her doggie and we left to drop Maddy at school.

The sky looked beautiful as we dropped Maddy off that morning so I got a quick picture!

Camryn showing me her "diamonds"...while still begging for oatmeal.

The only time Camryn cried during the whole process was when we made her take off her sundress.

We went back and they put a mask on her, she fell asleep, and literally 5 minutes later the doctor met up with us to tell us she did great, tons of fluid came out when they put in the tubes, she was on drops and an oral medications to help with the inflammation due to all that fluid and we were told we'd meet up with her in recovery.  When the nurse came to get us we went back to the recovery area and the nurse was talking about how Camryn was her little angel.  She didn't fuss at all coming out of anesthesia and she was just eating crackers, having some juice, and watching Disney Jr.

We had to hang out for 30 minutes so she chowed down on a couple packages of crackers and got 2 Popsicles and we were on our way.

Back at home she was good as new, back in her dress, with a giant slice of pizza, a tiara, and Sofia on tv.  You would have never known she had anything done!  She was so brave and wonderful during the whole thing and we're so proud of her!  We've already started to notice an improvement in her speaking since all that fluid has been gone from her ears.
