Last beach trip of the summer - OBX

You won't have to endure anymore beach trip photos for awhile. We left for our final beach trip of the summer, a long weekend in OBX, the day after my birthday.

We were invited to go with some friends and we had such a great time.  Everyone got along so well, the kids were happy as could be, what more could you ask for?

Look at those handsome dads carrying all that gear.  For some reason this just cracked me up.  2 men carrying about 8 chairs and fishing poles down some steep stairs on the dunes, a sight to see as I stood on the beach with a glass of sangria.

I took this picture of Trent and Clara (who are cousins) and just love it, they are inseparable.

All the kids (except Cams) enjoying the water.  I'm pretty sure Camryn was running around looking for sand crabs.

Beach dog, Cash II (our friends recently adopted a dog and his name was Cash, so he's Cash II or Cash Jr.?  Or just "the other Cash")

They loved being buried and turned into mermaids.

Matt goofing off with the kids in the pool.

Camryn and Sydney liked to sun bathe while the others swam.

See, all the mermaids!

Cams being silly in bed with me one day.  The girls were able to sleep in the bunk room with their friends but usually chose to sleep in our room.  The last night Maddy finally decided she wanted to have a sleep over and her and Sydney shared a top bunk, it was adorable.

This is pretty much where the guys were, when they weren't lugging beach equipment back and forth.

I'd say the dads are pretty lucky guys.  We even "let" them take the truck and go beach driving while we watched all the kids.  They definitely won the wife lottery ;)

Wild Horse

We got home on a Tuesday afternoon and as soon as we unpacked, I sat down and went to pet Callie and found this giant lump on her neck.  Matt rushed her to the dr. and long story short, they think she was bit by something a few days prior and it caused an infection.  I'll spare you the "after" pictures but it wasn't pretty.  She had to have part of her back shaved and drains put in. She's healing well now and is happy as can be, she's such an amazing dog!!  Our million dollar dog for sure.
